Let’s Change The World

Let’s Change The World

There are folks who say, “We need to change the world!” And the world certainly needs changing, as we can all agree.

A wise person once said, “The only person you can change is yourself, and if you can change yourself for the better, then the world is a better place because of that change”. We sometimes say, “If they would only act better” or “If they would only see things my way”.

The idea is that if someone else would only change, the world would be a better place. Jesus gives us directions in Matthew 5:6 when he says “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be satisfied”.

Again in Matthew 5:8, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God”. He becomes more specific in Matthew 6:3-5 when he says, “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye?   You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”

Jesus, the master teacher, always helps us to seek after those things that are beneficial to us as we face the uncertain paths of this world.
