There is a clever saying that may be helpful to keep us reminded to stay focused. It goes like this: “As you go through life make this your goal; keep your eye on the doughnut and not the hole”.
Jesus, the master teacher, gave us a more perfect idea over 2000 years ago when he said in Matthew 6:31-33, “Therefore do not be anxious, Saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek you first the kingdom of God and his righteous and all these things shall be added to you.” He reminds us to have the ultimate goal in our hearts.
